Visser's farm

A characteristic farm that stands near my house. There's been a fire so I decided to paint it in case it has to be demolished. I painted it on our yearly monument-day.

plein air oil-sketches

Oil sketches (1,5 hours) from yesterday and the day before. I was looking for strange weather conditions.

Book cover

A (rejected) cover illustration. I can't tell anything about the content because the book isn't published yet.

Portraits from the archive

I dug up some traditional portraits I made to combine with the newer ones. The latest one I've painted is that of Wouter's son Tijn. The other ones are clearly older but I think it's acceptable to combine them with this newer and better painted portrait.
It's time to make more new portraits....

Two pencil drawings

I've been diving into my archives to discover that it's hard to make a selection from pieces that I, as the creator, look at as dated. On the one hand that's a good thing because I'm more experienced at judging quality. On the other hand it could be a bad thing because I'm not the most objective person when it comes to looking at past personal pieces. So I'm looking at them for a while longer before I'll be showing more :)

In the meanwhile I'm posting two older but not THAT old pencil drawings.

Back to the roots

Every artistic technique I know, I learned by practicing realism. When I started focusing on commercial illustration I put that realism aside. Too intensive, time consuming and hardly profitable.

But you can't deny your roots. And you can't turn your back on who you really are.

So realism is back. And this is the blog where I'll be posting my impressions and realistic drawings and painting work. Soon www.wildkunst.nl will be online, but this is a (re)starting point.

I'll start off with an oldie I always liked.
